Colour Grading
Colour grading is the process of altering and enhancing the color of a motion picture or television image, either electronically, photo-chemically or digitally. The photo-chemical process is also referred to as color timing and is typically performed at a photographic laboratory.
The colourist chooses the colours in which a film is shown in, eg colours used in "Saving Private Ryan" to create the sepia effect. The colourist chooses that fit the context of the film. Here is a still from the movie from Saving Private Ryan.
