The Sounds of the Images

Today we explored the effects of sounds on the moving image and to create 'meaning' through sound design.

Keywords from last week: Ideology, Reading , Meaning, Genre, Institution, Narrative, Audience and Representation

A quote from Walter Murch- "Sound has a great power but it is conditional power. It places the physical and emotional contest, helping us to deciode how to take the image and how it intergrates itself into everything."

Lesson on the importance on Lighting

Today we learned how light can be used as a tool of the director. We also saw Fredrico Fellini: "Light is everything. It expresses ideology, EMOTION, COLOUR, DEPTH, STYLE. i can efface, narrate, describe. With the right lighting the ugliest face, the most idiotic expression can radiate with beauty or intelligence."

Light is tool used by the director. It can determine how any character/actor is represented in a production. Lioght is also used to set a scene or enhance ideas from the director on what kind of scene he wants, or what the meaning of the scene is.
